The Real Risk

Where Giving Loses Its Impact

Generosity is the easy part. Giving in a way that does the most good for the cause and the most good for your plan takes coordination most people never get.

Giving Cash by Default

Writing a check is rarely the most efficient way to give. Donating appreciated assets or giving from an IRA can do more for the cause and for your taxes.

Poor Timing

A gift made in the wrong year can miss its full tax benefit. The same dollars, timed well, can do measurably more.

Giving Without a Structure

For larger or ongoing giving, the absence of a structure like a donor advised fund means lost efficiency and lost control over your legacy.

What We Do

Charitable Planning Services

A giving strategy that maximizes impact and tax efficiency, coordinated with your full financial plan.

  • Bunching Contributions

We look for tax opportunities such as bunching contributions into a single tax year to maximize your deduction while placing the funds in a donor-advised fund so you can still gift on your timetable.

  • Charitable Timing

We closely track your tax plan throughout the year so that we can decide whether December or January can be more impactful for you and for the charity.

  • Donor Advised Funds and Structures

We help you decide whether a donor advised fund or other trust structures (CRTs, CLTs, etc.) fits your giving, and how to use it well.

  • Giving From Your IRA

We coordinate qualified charitable distributions so giving from your IRA lowers your tax bill while supporting your causes.

  • Legacy and Family Giving

We help you set up successor owners of your charitable structures to ensure that your charitable legacy can live on through your spouse or your children if you pass.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most tax-efficient way to give?

It depends on what you hold. Donating appreciated assets or giving directly from an IRA is often far more efficient than writing a check. We help you choose the approach that does the most for the cause and your taxes.

What is a donor advised fund, and do I need one?

A donor advised fund lets you set aside money for charity now, take the deduction, and grant it out over time. Whether it fits depends on how much and how often you give, which we work through with you.

Can I give from my IRA?

Yes. A qualified charitable distribution lets you give directly from an IRA, which can satisfy required distributions and lower your taxable income at the same time.

Does giving timing really matter?

Yes. The same gift can deliver more or less tax benefit depending on the year and how it is structured. We line up your giving with the moments it does the most good.

Can you work with me if my family lives across the country?

Yes. Through our virtual family office, we plan and meet with you wherever you are, with the same level of service as meeting in person.

Is charitable planning the only service you provide?

No. Charitable planning is one part of a coordinated plan. We also handle tax planning, estate planning, investment management, and more, so the pieces work together instead of in isolation.
