We Only Know What We Know

The first months of Donald Trump’s presidency have been eventful, ridiculed, praised, judged… it’s been a whirlwind. To say that we don’t know what’s on the horizon for our country is an understatement. With a divided country and a divided Congress, sometimes it feels like nothing can truly be solved.

But the harsh reality is that none of this is actually new. We have always only known what we know, and no one can predict the future. It seems a little louder today than it used to because the media and our connections’ opinions and commentary constantly bombard us. No other generation has had this kind of information available as quickly as we do.

At McCabe & Associates, we can’t tell you what the future holds. We don’t know what policies will become law, or what the markets are going to do. But our job is to block out the white noise and help you focus on what we do know so we can create and manage a portfolio that meets your needs

Things we can control and know, regardless of the current climate, include:

  • Your goals: what you want to achieve and reach in life
  • Your values: what means most to you, what you feel is right, and how to use those values to shape your decisions
  • Your risk tolerance: how aggressive we want or need to be to reach your goals and maintain your values
  • Disciplined investing: the appropriate asset allocation, investment tools, and rebalancing and diversification strategies for you
  • Preparedness: the best way to invest is to help protect you from risk, not just look for returns

When we couple what we know about you with what we know about disciplined investing, we can be more confident that we’ll be able to navigate whatever comes our way.
