Financial Advisors for Widowed Individuals
Specialized Planning for Those Who Lose Their Spouse
It's possible you weren't the spouse who handled the family's finances, and that's okay. You just need somebody to help guide you without talking down to you.

Widowed Individuals Need Help During a Family Crisis
When you lose a spouse, the decisions come all at once. Widowed clients tend to say the same three things when they first reach out.
Too Much at Once
My spouse was the one who handled all the bills and finances. I have a million things to address and I don't know where to start.
Decision Fatigue
I'm going to have to meet with the accountant, attorney, banker, and financial advisor, and call the insurance company. It's exhausting to think about.
Protecting the Kids
I need to get everything organized now so that the kids will be taken care of if something happens to me.
How We Advise Widowed Individuals
Our Plank-by-Plank Process® moves in the order that matters after a loss: handle what's urgent first, then build toward what's lasting.
Handle Immediate Concerns
When your spouse dies unexpectedly, we help you sort out what needs handling now, like death certificates and bills, from what can wait.
Help Settle Your Spouse's Estate
We work alongside your attorney to settle the estate correctly, from retitling accounts to filing the paperwork that's easy to miss.
Get You Organized Next
Once the immediate items are handled, we bring every account, policy and document into one place so you always know where things stand.
Prepare and Involve Your Children
We help you decide how much to involve your children now, so they're prepared to step in when you need them.

What items do I need to address when my spouse dies?
We supply a copy of the book Details After Death to the widows we work with. It's a great piece of literature that covers all the important items you should think about.
Should my children be involved in my planning?
Having a trusted child looped into your financial planning is a great way to prepare your family to handle your affairs after you pass. For widows who value privacy with their finances, our advisors are happy to fill that role instead.
How soon after my spouse's passing should I meet with an advisor?
There's no set timeline. Some widows reach out within weeks, others wait months. We're here whenever you're ready, not on a schedule we set for you.
Do you help retitle accounts and update beneficiaries?
Yes. We walk through every account and policy with you and coordinate the retitling and beneficiary updates directly with your attorney and the institutions involved.
What does this cost?
For advisory clients, our fee is a percentage of assets under management, billed quarterly. We're happy to walk through the specifics on a call.
What if I already have a financial advisor?
We're happy to offer a second opinion on your current plan before you decide anything. There's no obligation to move forward.
