The Real Risk

Where Estate Plans Fall Apart

Most estate problems are not caused by bad documents. They are caused by documents that were never updated, never coordinated, or never matched to the plan.

Outdated Documents and Beneficiaries

A will or beneficiary form that no longer reflects your life can override everything else you intended. These details decide who inherits, not your memory of what you signed.

Trusts That Sit Unused

A trust only protects an estate when it is funded and set up well before it is needed. An empty or misaligned trust offers none of the protection you paid for.

Documents and Plan Out of Sync

When your estate documents and your financial plan are not coordinated, taxes climb and assets land in the wrong hands at the worst time.

What We Do

Estate Planning Services

A coordinated process that keeps your documents, your plan, and your professionals working toward the same outcome.

  • Estate Plan Coordination

We work with your attorney and can provide them with a list of accounts, titles, and beneficiaries so your documents and your financial plan say the same thing, with nothing left to chance.

  • In-House Estate Planning

We've partnered with Wealth.com so that our advisors can guide families through drafting wills, trusts, and power of attorney documents without families having to leave the comfort of their home.

  • Beneficiary and Titling Review

We review who is named on every account (IRAs, life insurance, annuities, etc.) and how each asset is titled, so the right people inherit the right way.

  • Tax-Aware Wealth Transfer

We help you work on gifting strategies during your lifetime and setting up trusts to carve assets out of your estate now and mitigate estate tax on future growth of your net worth.

  • Trustee and Successor Guidance

We help you think through who should hold these roles and we coordinate family meetings so that your entire family is on the same page with your estate plan.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you write my estate documents?

No. Your attorney (or Wealth.com) drafts the documents. We coordinate the strategy, make sure the documents match your financial plan, and act as the point of contact so the pieces fit together.

How often should I update my estate plan?

Whenever your life changes, and on a regular review cycle in between (typically 3-5 years). Marriages, births, sales, and deaths can all override what your documents currently say if they are left unupdated.

What does a trust actually do for me?

A trust can control how and when assets pass, reduce what goes through probate, and lower taxes, but only when it is funded and titled correctly well before it is needed.

Can you help me decide who should be my trustee?

Yes. Choosing a trustee is one of the harder estate decisions. We help you weigh the options, including the role an administrative trustee can play, so the right person or party is in place.

Can you work with me if my family lives across the country?

Yes. Through our virtual family office, we coordinate your plan and meet with you and your family wherever you are, with the same level of service as meeting in person.

Is estate planning the only service you provide?

No. Estate planning is one part of a coordinated plan. We also handle tax planning, investment management, generational planning, and more, so the pieces work together instead of in isolation.
